John Joniad, a Rohingya who fled Myanmar in 2012, is now a Canada-based journalist and human rights advocate. He sat down with CBC to talk about the difficulties of family members left behind and called for a dedicated immigration pathway for Rohingya refugees to come to Canada.

John was one of the first fellows under the Canada-Myanmar Parliamentary Centre and International Development Research Centre (IDRC) Fellowship.
