Ottawa Dialogue’s Senior Research Fellow, Julia Palmiano Federer, has co-edited with Aye Myat Su Wai a Special Issue titled “Rebuilding Prospects for ‘Peace’: Gender, Civil Society, and Informal Spaces in Post-Coup Myanmar” in the Journal of Burma Studies. This Issue explores gender, civil society, and informal peace spaces in post-coup Myanmar, highlighting Myanmar women’s resistance and agency.

The articles in this Issue by Shona Loong, PhD, Tin Maung Htwe, Rebecca Haines, Laura Rose O’Connor, and Mariana S. highlight the experiences of Myanmar women who use both their bodies and voices as sites of resistance and agency. The Special Issue was prepared and published under an International Development Research Centre (IDRC)–funded project supporting Myanmar civil society as part of the Knowledge for Democracy in Myanmar (K4DM) initiative, implemented by the Ottawa Dialogue.
