The Knowledge for Democracy Myanmar (K4DM) initiative congratulates Greg Constantine for being one of the recipients of the Bertha Foundation’s 2025 Artivism Awards with his Ek Khaale project.

Ek Khaale, the Rohingya expression for “Once Upon A Time,” is a storytelling and visual restoration project launched by Constantine in 2021. He  worked with Rohingya youth and elders to expose the unseen past from old photographs, documents, letters, and illustrations combined with historical materials. With support from the Knowledge for Democracy Myanmar (K4DM) initiative, Ek Khaale has been  exhibited in Thailand and Canada to engage the public, policymakers, students, and Myanmar communities.

The Bertha Foundation, through its Bertha Artivism Awards, provides funding for activist artists, arts collectives and organizations around the world who are working to bring about social and economic justice and human rights for all.

K4DM has also supported work by the SecDev Foundation, a past Artivism awardee.
