Call for Applications: Workshop on Forced Displacement in Southeast Asia 2026

The Regional Center for Social Science and Sustainable Development (RCSD), Faculty of Social Sciences, Chiang Mai University, with support from the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), invites applications for a week-long workshop on forced displacement in Southeast Asia in Chiang Mai.

Dates: 27 April – 3 May 2026
Location: Chiang Mai, Thailand

The workshop offers interdisciplinary engagement with theories, regional case studies, and ethical methodologies related to forced displacement, conflict, environmental injustice, and humanitarian and policy responses. Participants will develop a paper outline during the workshop and submit a short essay afterward.

Eligibility

Early- to mid-career researchers, graduate students, and practitioners with interests in forced displacement in Southeast Asia. Applicants from Southeast Asia are especially encouraged.

Support

Meals provided; funding is available for some travel and accommodation for participants outside Chiang Mai.
